I'm
presently a full time dad of a proud Bowery Babes Baby and husband to a Bowery
Babes Mum. Email me at kai@kaipix.com if you are interested in any BB Dads
gatherings. I'm glad to help Melissa and the other organizers with this brand
new website.
Kai.
While The Bowery
Babes was created for local mothers to talk and share
and connect, it has become increasingly clear that the Daddies need
to be in the circle too! Several stay-at-home Dads would like us to start
a BBDaddies yahoo chat room, so stay tuned for that, or email your desire
for this at info@bowerybabes.com
In the meantime, we have asked some BB Mommies if they had any supportive
book ideas for expectant fathers and here is what we got:
" My husband really liked The Birth Partner by Penny Simkin.
And he also read The Expectant Father" by Armin Brott.
" I liked the parts aimed at male partners in Tracy Hogg's The Baby
Whisperer.
And frankly, reading up on the parts intended more for the future
mom may help a husband more than something geared just towards men-kind of forcing
them to think in another skin."

"One of my guy friends really recommended "the birth partner" (a
book)
-- he read it before his first baby was born, and it really reassured
him and told him what his role is.. (at least in the pregnancy and
birth process.)"

"I heard about Kevin Nealon's book when I was pregnant and because I think
he's hilarious, I was going to pick it up. However, I didn't have
a whole lot of time after reading my own pregnancy books. So, I can't give a
personal review and not sure if it will be helpful in waking the dad to be
up, or
if he might take the jokes too seriously....
In any event, it might be worth seeing if a mom did read it:
Kevin Nealon's Yes, You're Pregnant, But What About
Me?"

My husband read: "The Expectant Father: Facts,
Tips, & Advice for Dads-to-Be" by
Armin A Brott & Jennifer Ash "So You're Going to
be a Dad" by
Peter Downey.
My husband would lie in bed laughing hysterically reading this book
and we have given it to several friends when they are expecting.
He has also
written
a second book entitled "Dads, Toddlers, & The Chicken Dance" -
another book my husband read whilst laughing hysterically in bed. My
husband said he really enjoyed the advice and humour of Peter Downey."

"A friend got this one for my husband when we were expecting Oliver: The
Baby Owners Manual It's kinda funny and my husband actually did read it.
I also gave him specific projects-it was his job to research and buy
the stroller and the car seat. ( I took care of things like breast pumps..)
Netflix rents many movies on pregnancy and infants-things like "the
happiest baby on the block."
As happy as my husband was for me to be pregnant, it did not become "real" to
him until my belly started kicking him in the back when we slept. He
had never changed a diaper or even held an infant when our baby arrived.
He did
turn
out to be an amazing father though."
